MidSouth Monster is an alternative drag pageant that celebrates strange, unique, and absurd perspectives. This is the first Southern official preliminary of National Monster Xtreme, wherein competitors will go head to head in order to be crowned The MidSouth Monster. The winner will not only become our new regional Titleholder, but also receive a $500 cash prize, alongside a crown, sash, and their travel, lodge, and entry fee paid for in order to compete at the National Pageant this November 10th-12th. I’m so happy you’ve decided to participate in the first Southern Regional preliminary for National Monster Xtreme, where you’re welcome to be as dastardly and evil, or whimsical and absurd, as you’d like. Here, monsters, creatures, and things reign supreme, and the more out of the box you are, the better. What we will be judging you on is how you execute that creativity in terms of precision, professionalism, and execution (PPE). If you think you’re able to blend those seamlessly, then this will help qualify you to represent Memphis, and this pageant, as our regional titleholder when you compete for the National Monster Xtreme Pageant this fall. This is a pageant that has no gender boundaries, and you will find that we are welcoming to everyone. The foundational principles of this system are inclusion, fairness, and entertainment, with a particular appreciation for darkness and absurdity. If you’ve felt unrepresented, excluded, or misunderstood, welcome. This pageant is looking for a titleholder that has an unabashed alternative point of view in the art of drag and who can represent us well at Nationals. This handbook is designed to give you all the information you will need to be prepared for the competition, and outline how things will be run so that you can plan accordingly.
